Why Working at Zeno is More Than a Sales Job

What do you picture when you think of a salesperson? Do you picture the typical car salesman persona, a person pushing you to BUY! BUY! BUY! without caring what you really want?

And what do you picture when you think of a sales job? Is it sitting at a desk all day, making phone calls to people who want nothing to do with you?


We’re here to tell you that’s nothing what sales looks like – at least here at Zeno.

The difference begins with the training

From the very beginning, you can tell that working in sales at Zeno will be different. Emelie Roberts, Zeno’s award-winning Director of Learning & Development, tells us about the comprehensive training program each new sales hire goes through. They embark on an 8-week onboarding curriculum that includes both classroom and field time.

After that, they approach their sales calls through a philosophy called The Challenger Sale. The Challenger Sale teaches salespeople that they are not trying to sell as much as possible, but instead they are a trusted advisor to their clients. This idea translates to Zeno’s ZOS360° Assessment. With ZOS360°, the sales team looks to uncover all aspects of a client's business and to solve business problems beyond technology.

Room for success, freedom, and smiles

Zeno’s employees will tell you – they’re happy at their job because of the friendly atmosphere, freedom they feel in their position, and the team they work with.

“I love the environment I work in and the family feel in the office. ”says Lindsey, Business Consultant. “We all help each other out when needed and bounce new information off one another daily to improve ourselves and the team.” She’s not the only one who feels this way, the team oriented office is one of Fabio Lopes’ favorite parts of the job.

Antony Browy, Director - Print Systems Group, has been with Zeno for the past 3 years. He enjoys when teams collaborate to find the perfect solution for their clients. “It’s a building of smiles,” he shares. Antony continues, “you are your own boss. They give you the freedom to be creative, but support you in your career goals.”

That freedom in a sales position means you have control over your job and what you make of it. “Zeno gives you the opportunity to earn what you want. The past sales experiences I have had were limiting and dependent on a schedule or shift,” says Aleesha Jennings, Business Technology Consultant. “At Zeno I am in control of my potential, how much I put into my career, and the opportunities I find. Kristen Loring, a Senior Technology Consultant who’s been with Zeno for 4 years agrees that the position leaves freedom for success, thanks to the executives. “Our executives give us the tools to be ultra successful! We also have unique ability to be entrepreneurs. Zeno celebrates everyone's success. We all achieve together!”

Aleesha adds, “Zeno builds its own people up. They invest in their employees and provide every opportunity to progress and grow within the company.” This means not only room for small successes, but a chance to grow within the company. “I have watched as business technology consultants turn into managers, managers turn into directors, and directors turn into vice-presidents. If you want to grow with a company there is no doubt in my mind that you will have an ample amount of opportunity at Zeno.”

Take it from Melanie Gervais, who’s been with the company for 14 years and currently works as a Major Accounts Technology Consultant “Every day I am more and more thankful for the people. It’s easy to love your job!”

Others plan to stay for a while, too. Jillian Kronfuss, Senior Business Technology Consultant, has been with the company for just 6 months and is already benefiting from her new job. “Since leaving my previous industry, I have learned so much in the short time I have been here and feel that Zeno will be my last ‘jump.’ Great career move and very happy with my decision.”

It’s not just the employees who see a benefit, clients will appreciate this difference, too. Fabio shares a story of a time they went above and beyond for one customer. “We were to pick up old equipment from a customer of mine and the truck didn't have the necessary equipment,” he shares. “So one of the drivers brought his personal truck with the correct equipment and handled it himself. This is the effort that makes our customer relationships invaluable.”
